If you wish to trail your prized possession, you can go for a heavy duty tow bar for sale, because you can be assured that the hitch can be bought at a very low cost giving you the chance to use the saved money on some other accessory.
Tow bars come in a variety of different shapes, sizes, models and weight classes. If you are not aware of the types of the tow bar, it is very difficult for you to choose the correct model for your vehicle.
Different types of tow bar from which you can make a choice are:
1.Horizontal hitch: A hitch refers to the metal structure that is attached to the back of the truck or car. The receiver hitch slides into the trailer hitch and has a surface for the tow ball to be bolted on. It is best suited when you have to trail heavy loads. It has a square tongue that connects to the trailer hitch.
It is generally available in two sizes: 40mm and 50 mm. A strong pin is inserted through the side of the hitch to keep the receiver secure.
2.Swan neck: Manufacturers generally fix them permanently to the vehicle. They resemble a U-shape or rounded L-shape. Modern vertical hitch tow bars resemble the design of a ‘swan-neck’ tow bar. They are not common in Australia and often have to be imported from other countries.
3.Flat tongue: They are used for lighter tow bar classes; it has a detachable tow ball that fits onto a horizontal slot on the tow bar. The tow ball tongue is secured using two large bolts through the top of the hitch. The bolts are placed through the top of the hitch and offer security that you can trust and rely on.
4.Rear step: This type of tow bars are designed to be used by 4WDs. The tow bar protrudes out slightly from rear of the vehicle, which a rear step is fitted on to. They have better ground clearance than a normal tow bar and are better suited for off-road. They are heavier and can be used for UTEs and certain four-wheelers.
Depending on the towing vehicle and use, the tow bar should be chosen.
