Well this is interesting! I tried so called 'mini' cows but still found them large and cumbersome for a small homestead. I did some further research and found the mini Zebu! Mini Zebu are tiny bovines, about the size of a large goat, although can grow to 42" in height. The mini Zebu originated in South Asia and was developed farther in India, and do well in warmer climates (IMZA). Having a mini Zebu in Canada is not difficult as long as they have a place to get out of the wind and rain, they will grow a shaggier coat in winter. My first mini Zebu is a grey heifer GZ Kaliopi! I brought her home in the summer of 2020. Kaliopi is registered with the International Miniature Zebu Association.
