INTRODUCTION 

My homestead is a unique collection of animals that can not only provide resources but also a connection to nature and personal fulfillment. I have or had Zebu, Emu, Barbados Blackbelly Sheep, Nigerian dwarf goats, Kunekune pigs, Ferrets, Hedgehogs, Guinea pigs, Rabbits, Mara, Bearded dragons, Sugar gliders, Various birds, and more...  I now have a jumping spider in his own little magical habitat! I love all fauna big and small  and also have a passion for flora, ferns being a special soft spot for me... 🪴🦔

BACKGROUND

I consider myself a feral scientist! I have a Bachelors of Science with Honours specializing in Biology/ Physical Geography 2003,  Masters of Earth Science 2013, and also a background in research and teaching. I then went rogue, back to nature. I've had the homestead since 2005, but in 2018 developed the name Border Brook Gardens  and a few years later went in 100% for self sustainability.  I'm considering offering environmental consulting services in the future - certification in progress 🌳

HOBBIES

I am a DIY enthusiast, everything from furnishings rehab to fencing / home improvement. Scaling the roof to upgrade with metal was an interesting adventure! I am also an artist that started with pencil as a youngster and through University (I was thrilled when we were asked to draw in lab - right), and only recently decided to dive into acrylics. Of course Flora and Fauna are my favorite subjects... Check out my gallery ✨
