Below are a list of events we try to do each year. Click on Latest News for details on current events with dates and times!!
School Open House:
Look for the PTA's information table during the school's Open House in September to learn more about PTA and to join, as an inactive supporter or involved participant. Volunteers are needed to monitor PTA membership tables.
Halloween Treat Festival:
This event is held around Halloween each year, and provides a safe and fun environment for Bonner families to dress up, play games, enjoy concessions, and win small prizes. The money raised from this goes to the general fund of the PTA to fund our no-charge events and the Teacher’s Wish List items. Many volunteers are needed each year to provide candy, work the game tables, and run concessions and prize tables.
Winter Social:
This event is held in conjunction with the winter music programs in December, and PTA provides free concessions in the cafeteria after the music program. We usually need volunteers to make cookies and baked goods.
Christmas Santa Visit:
Annually, Santa comes for a visit in a Fire Truck in December. We have small gifts for each child from Kindergarten through 4th grade, and each child has an opportunity to sit with Santa. Volunteers are generally needed to help put the gifts together.
Valentine-o-Grams:
This event is a fundraiser for PTA, where parents and students can purchase Valentine-o-Grams (silk roses or heart bead necklaces with a message) for Bonner students, which are delivered to them on Valentine’s Day. PTA ensures that all students receive at least one. Volunteers are needed to assemble the grams and deliver them on Valentine's Day.
Book Fair Chili Dinner:
In February, the Bonner Library hosts a Book Fair, and PTA provides a chili dinner for Bonner families, which is served by Bonner teachers. There is a small charge for the chili dinner, and the money goes to the Bonner School Library. Volunteers are needed to gather donations for the meal and to make the food and clean up after the meal.
Teacher Appreciation Week:
This week is in May, and the Bonner PTA provides small gifts each day of the week and a Friday morning breakfast for teachers. Volunteers are needed to put together gifts, and make food for the breakfast.
PTA Movie Nights:
Movie nights are held intermittently throughout the school year. The movie is free to Bonner families, and concessions (popcorn, candy, drinks) are available for purchase. We usually try to have a new DVD release.
Field Day:
Field Day is held in May, and we need volunteers to help run events, as directed by the PE Teacher. Bonner PTA also provides popsicles for the students.
Family Fun Dance:
This is a new event held in the Spring for K-5 families. It is free to attend and is currently a Hawaiian theme event with music, dancing, a few games and face painting. Dressing up is encouraged and leis, snacks and game tickets can be purchased. Volunteers are needed to staff the various stations.
Programs
PTA programs are created to organize and support parent involvement in children’s education. Our programs are created with leading expert organizations on topics of importance to our members, at members’ requests.
PTA offers a means to develop strong family-school partnerships and involve the community. The process can be tailored to each school. PTA’s process for building successful partnerships and programs consists of three steps:
* Raising awareness about the power of family and community involvement.
* Taking action to cultivate involvement through specific programs and practices.
* Celebrating success as your school sees increased involvement and its impact.
