Below is some information to address common problems in the PC version (sorry Mac users!) of ChemDraw:
1) ChemDraw objects are not fully visible in Microsoft Word
Sometimes, when you paste a ChemDraw object directly into Microsoft Word, the ChemDraw drawing will not be centered in the box it occupies in Word. For example, in Word you might not see the full ChemDraw drawing even though it's all there when it opens in ChemDraw if you double-click on it. This is usually due to the fact that ChemDraw is not set up correctly for the DPI of Windows or of your monitor/screen.
To adjust:
1. Find the ChemDraw executable file, which is usually:
Older versions of ChemDraw (PerkinElmer):
C:\Program Files\PerkinElmerInformatics\ChemOfficeXXXX\ChemDraw\ChemDraw.exe
Newer versions of ChemDraw (Revvity):
C:\Program Files\RevvitySignalsSoftware\ChemDrawApplications\ChemDraw\ChemDraw.exe
2. Right-click on the .exe file, and select "Properties".
3. In the "ChemDraw.exe Properties" window, go to the "Compatibility" tab, and at the bottom click on "Change high DPI settings".
4. In the new window that opens, check "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in Settings".
5. Check "Override high DPI scaling behavior.
6. In the "Scaling performed by" dropdown list, select "System (Enhanced)".
7. Click OK, and OK again to close the "ChemDraw.exe Properties" window.
8. Restart both ChemDraw and Word.
2) Pasting from ChemDraw into Microsoft Word is very slow
If pasting directly from ChemDraw into Microsoft Word takes a long time and lags, it usually means that the versions of Word and ChemDraw that you are using are not the same bitness (64 vs. 32bit). There is a registry fix for this that has been discussed on Reddit:
