Panoramic Ruins

Saint Paul, 11 March 2004

A scrolling conveyor stitched black and white

Like rebar piercing pavers and busted up brick

Herein lies a brooding blanket of mortar dust

On Bush Street, near Stockton, circa 1906

The shattered glass of history’s mullions

Shorn useless like a Victorian window sash and

Pulverized to powder belied by crown glass transoms

On Bush Street, near Stockton, circa 1906

Through hollowed skeletons bereft of closets

Strident cries cling the shallow swale like

Cracked shards fill cavities divested of rooms

On Bush Street, near Stockton, circa 1906
