Welcome back for another exciting year of music!  In 8th Grade we continue our musical journey, which includes several rewarding performances, beginning with a performance with the high school marching band!  I look forward to making music and I hope you do too!

Below are items you need for class to start the year:

• Instrument

• Several working reeds for woodwind players

• Superior Bands in Sixteen Weeks by Quincy C. Hilliard (You can find it at a local music store)

• Tradition of Excellence Book 2 (Blue Book) for your instrument (You should still have this from last year)

• Three Ring Binder

• Divider Tabs for your binder

• Hole Reinforcement Labels for your binder

• Pencil 

• Paper for your binder

****Rehearsal with the High School Marching Band: Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 6:30 PM****

****FIRST PERFORMANCE: October 13, 2023 (Football Game Performance with the High School Marching Band)****

The 8th Grade Band students will perform with the Bay High Rocket Marching Band during pregame (6:40 PM) of the varsity football game. Students should arrive at the high school band room by 6:00 PM on Friday, October 13, 2023.  Students will perform pregame, and then they will remain with the marching band until the beginning of the fourth quarter of the game when they will be dismissed to their parents to enjoy the rest of the football game.  When students are dismissed, they are responsible for their instruments.  Students will have the opportunity to return their instruments to the high school for the remainder of the game.  After the game, the high school will be open for approximately 30 minutes for instrument pick-up.

This year students will also have the opportunity to work with the high school students during a rehearsal on Tuesday evening, October 10, 2023 at 6:30 PM at Bay High School.

During the third quarter, students will receive a snack courtesy of Bay Music Boosters!!!!
