Study Aids
Below are a list of resources our students like to use to prepare for tournaments. We tried to offer a variety of suggestions in the hope that your child may find a method he/she prefers to use to study. Please let me know if there are any we should add to the list.
- Quiz website: Protobowl.com is made specifically for quizbowl. Sometimes you will hear the exact same questions in a tournament. This is the best way to practice to get faster at buzzing in. Make sure you set it to "Middle School" level. There is a Protobowl app available for iPhone (and possibly Android?).
- Quiz DB: you choose a subject and you can read tournament questions.
- Lists: NAQT.com provides a list of "You gotta know..." categories that identify the most commonly heard questions grouped by subject.
- Book series: "Who is ...?" and "What is ...?" series. They are a short books that give you a general sense with a few details of historical and current people, events, and landmarks.
- Official National History Bee book: It is very expensive ($45!). But it is concise and hits the main points.
- Study guide on History Bee:
- Part 1 - US
- Part 2 - World
