YOUTH MEMBER DETAILS
Skaters under 11 years-old who are below ISI Delta or Skating School Level 8 will be considered Youth members and must have on-ice supervision for safety at all times. Youth Members younger than 11 years may be evaluated for Full Membership prior to passing Delta or Skating School Level 8 by two BFSC coaches who will verify the skater is in full control of their skating and understands/is able to adhere to the the safety and right-of-way policies as described on pages 5 & 6 of any Membership Registration Packet found on the Forms page.
There are TWO options for Youth members, depending on whether they have a responsible adult who is comfortable being with them on the ice in skates.
Youth Membership Option 1: skater + adult
An on-ice chaperone/parent is included in the Youth Membership Option 1 at no extra cost and is NOT considered an Adult Member. The chaperone/parent may only skate with the designated Youth Member and is not required to pay for practice ice in addition to their skater's ice fees. The chaperone/parent is expected to keep an eye on the youth skater, eyes up for other skaters, and guide the youth skater in practicing safe skating and abiding by the right-of-way rules.
Youth Membership Option 2: skater required to be in a lesson (30 minute limit)
Skaters who do not have an older family member who is comfortable getting on the ice may choose the Youth Option 2 Membership which allows them to be on the ice with a coach for a 30-minute lesson. The Youth Option 2 skater is expected to exit the ice after their 30-minute lesson. Youth Option 2 Members may purchase a Limited Punch Card.
All Memberships (including Guest) Include:
· Ice Skating Institute (ISI) membership
· ISI individual skater insurance
· Quarterly ISI Recreational Ice Skating magazine
· Full, Youth, and Adult/Collegiate Members may purchase money-saving practice ice passes and participate in the BFSC Exhibition
· Full and Youth Members may test levels and attend competitions.
Private Lessons:
All Members may take private lessons with a BFSC coach.
All coaching fees are paid directly to a coach.
Typical lessons are 30 minutes and may only take place on Club practice ice. Private lessons are not allowed on Public Skate times per the rink's policy.
Lessons may be individual (one-on-one) or semi-private (2-3 skaters share a lesson time and split coaching fees).
Fundraising and Volunteer Commitments are reduced for the first year of membership (see the chart above).
