    • Maude went to business school and she was a telephone operator and worked for Bell Telephone.
    • Stanley’s father taught school
    • His parents were good disciplinarians and taught them to work.
    • When he was 8 years old he hauled railroad ties 12 miles with horses and helped make railroad ties by hand.
    • He helped during the harvest time at the Fester Farm in Berwick, PA. This farm was owned by the husband of Stanley’s grandson (Gary)’s wife (Dotty)’s paternal aunt (Margaret Kistler Fester)
    • Stanley worked at the Penn State University Dairy Barns as assistant herdsman. After retirement he worked part time at Harner Farms.
  • Stanley was student at Penn State for an Ag course & stayed at the Harper home on College Ave. in State College, PA
  • Maude and Stanley (couple on the right in the picture above) were married on September 12, 1916 in State College, PA. The ceremony was a Maude’s family home. It was a double wedding with with her sister, Myrtle & her groom, G. Dallas Morrison.
  • Maude and Stanley lived in Lewistown until the spring of 1919. Daughters, Betty and Genevieve, had pneumonia that winter.
  • Maude was the only one of her siblings to give birth to children.
