Many thanks to all for all the support for Blackhill Scouts throughout the year. We hope you have a great summer, but also want to make you aware of some important information and requests:

The week ahead is the last week before the summer break. Regular section nights will restart after the school holidays on: Tuesday 6th for Beavers and Cubs and Friday 9th of September for Scouts.

The HQ building is used most nights during the week by Blackhill Scouts and Consett Scouts. It is available to hire on a one off basis - e.g. for parties (discounts for members) or for regular bookings.

We are looking to make the building management as separate from the two scout groups as possible and are looking for a bookings secretary for HQ rentals, to support the building committee treasurer. The role would be to liaise with those renting - e.g. send agreement forms, record on the building calendar, chase up purchase orders, invoices and payments and list bookings or draft a report for the treasurer of the joint building committee. If you are interested or know someone who might be do discuss with one of the leaders.

We are always grateful for further assistance. Scouting is very rewarding and can help develop your skills too. Nationally there are over 30,000 children on waiting lists for want of volunteers and facilities. Blackhill Scouts Executive Committee would like to thank the leaders, parents and also those who've helped the group over the past years.

You can raise money for the group from most online purchases (2700 retailers including Amazon and Ebay) by logging into Easy Fundraising - they have Apps for phones and tablets too. www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/blackhillscoutgroup

If you have any fundraising ideas do speak to one of the leaders.

We will hold our AGM on September 27th and each section will update on their achievements, new members will be invested and badges presented. We will also update you on group finances and elect the group executive committee for the year ahead. If you can help scouting in any way please discuss with one of the leaders.

"Subs" donations: By September all sections will be using direct debit subscriptions and Online scout Manager (OSM). This saves the leaders much time each week, with the organisation of camps and gift aid and ensuring that we accrue enough subs monies over the year to also pay and fixed costs like insurance, heating etc and the £45 capitation costs per member in support of district, county and national scouting every January. Subs are £10 a month (same as £20 a half term). If any parent or guardian can do so, please ensure you have completed the gift aid form. It makes a great difference.

Thanks again and wishing you a great summer. Think about how to help the children get more out of scouting.
