In December 2012 the Struggle for Freedom and Justice; the life and times of the politician Bildad M. Kaggia was published. The launching took place on 9th March 2013 during the half marathon.

Primarily this is a thoroughly revised and extended version of the autobiography of Bildad Kaggia (Roots of Freedom (1921-1963) in which he vividly described his life and times as a major figure in the remarkable story of the liberation of his people from the crushing chains of colonialism ̶ against all odds.

This revised and extended version has been put carefully together by Kaggia’s son Mwaganu and W. de Leeuw, a leading Dutch scholar on Kenya’s history. The book had to be revised as the original autobiography had been censored to suit the political climate of the seventies. Extension was necessary as the original autobiography did not cover the vital period after 1963.

No one can read this without feeling that Kaggia’s eventual decision to leave the political scene after the betrayal of all that had been fought for during the bitter Independence struggle, was sad - but inevitable.

The book is available at the foundation for the price of KES 1,800/= For more information about the sales of the book Contact us.
