COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
EVALUATION CRITERIA:
Participants will choose one of the following:
1. A 15 minute presentation with a handout reflecting the Orff process.
2. A two-three page paper related to the Orff process.
Grading Criteria:
a. Explain and relate how content in the article or presentation is relevant to your teaching-15 points.
b. Demonstrate how the Orff process will be used to improve your teaching-15 points.
c. Presentations should be indicative of Orff processes reflected in this course. Include 30 handouts for all class participants and include your name, activity focus, and date. All papers should be double-spaced and typed and include your name and date. Cite sources and attach a copy of the article researched-10 points.
MAKE-UP REQUIREMENTS:
Only one absence is allowed for this workshop credit and make-up work IS required for that absence. An exception may be made in the case of extenuating circumstances. If this occurs, please contact the instructor who will make the final decision.
If you are absent from an 8:30-12:00 session, complete ONE of the following activities. If you are absent from a 9:00-3:00 session, complete TWO of the following activities. Any additional time away from the group (tardy or leaving early) will be considered an absence.
Make-up work is due to the instructor at the meeting following the absence. If you are absent on March 14, make-up work is due to the instructor by March 20. Instructor will not contact you if work is delinquent.
1.) Read one article pertaining to Orff music education and write a 2-3 page reflection following criteria on the syllabus.
2.) Develop a lesson plan incorporating Orff activities. Identify National Music Content Standards. State objectives clearly, and select appropriate activities to achieve the objective. Sate the process of teaching and specify grade level. Include the activities of singing, moving, playing, and creating. Specify and outline follow-up activities.
3.) Develop and prepare two music related teaching aids for use in your music classroom. Attach instructions for use with clearly stated objectives and suggested lesson incorporation.
CLASSROOM TEACHERS MAKE-UP:
1.) Develop a lesson plan with guidelines in #2 above, but develop the plan cross-curriculum with your choice of subjects.
2.) Develop and prepare two music related teaching aids for use in your classroom. Attach instructions describing use, objectives, and suggested lesson incorporation.
