This clinic will feature Dr. Nancy Roberts and Dr. Symeon Waseen, professors of music from Black Hills State University. They will be sharing earth friendly and budget-minded ways to make sound in your classroom. Create and perform a piece by John Cage using found sound. Workshop includes a make and take tin can drum!

GREAT BEGINNINGS: EXPLORING ORFF SCHULWERK ACTIVITIES FROM THE EARLIEST GRADES ONWARD

GUEST INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Robert Amchin, Kentucky

This session will present examples of pieces and lessons that work in the Orff approach. Materials will include examples for younger children and ways to expand these elemental beginnings so they apply to any age student.

MOVING OFF THE PAGE INTO THE WORLD OF ORFF SCHULWERK

GUEST INSTRUCTOR: Dr. Kate Webster, Minnesota

This workshop will explore teaching processes that incorporate movement, using the creativity of the Schulwerk as a guide. Primary and intermediate pieces from the volumes will be featured. Participants will analyze various approaches to folk dance and experience all the media of Orff Schulwerk.

WHERE IMAGINATIONS FLY: IDEAS FROM THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE

Lessons and strategies from the best national and international music instructors will be presented by chapter members who attend the National Conference in Cincinnati. Multi-age activities that incorporate all aspects of the Schulwerk will be shared.
