So you think you’ve got what it takes to blog? I would hope so, doubt won’t get you far in life, especially blogging. You’re going to need confidence and commitment to make it here.
You Won’t Be Rich Tomorrow.
This is probably what drove you to blog in the first place. You’ve been reading about all of these power bloggers making hundreds if not thousands of dollars from their blog. Maybe you don’t even want to be rich. Maybe you’re just trying make a little extra to make ends meet. The thing about it is, a lot of blogs don’t start to see income for at least 6 months. Even more don’t see anything for over a year. Some even crash and burn within that first year. Don’t let the lack of money earned discourage you, let the progress you’re making be your driving factor. Always blog now, monetize later.
Know Your Niche, Love Your Niche.
Whatever it is that you’re blogging about, you should have a firm grasp on the concept. You’re going to need to know more than just a little bit about your niche as well. It’s also a good idea to pick a niche that you are actually interested in. If you don’t like what you’re writing about it will show in your writings. You can get some help here finding out what is a good niche.
Looking for a good niche? Inquire within. Let’s first actually examine what a niche is. A niche is simply put as a specialized topic or market. A niche can also be defined as “a place, employment, status, or activity for which a person or thing is best fitted.” Using the latter definition, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that if you actually have to search hard to find one you probably won’t be successful in it. I say this because a niche is only as good as the content that is created around it. There is no one good answer or two for that matter. It has to be something that fits you.
What we should be looking at is what makes a good niche. A good niche usually:
has a significant number of people interested in it;
is interesting to you;
has people willing to pay for it;
has competition, but not too much;
can almost sell itself.
Taking all of this into consideration, you want a successful niche more so than just a good niche.
So that being said, lets explore what makes a niche either good or bad
If you aren’t an expert, that’s fine too. Use your blog to teach others as you learn. Share your findings! That’s what blogging is all about.
You Will Have Good Days And Bad Days.
As with any other job, some days you’re ready and at it. Other days you’re dreading it. Blogging is the same way. Some days I may be ready to blog for 3 to 4 hours. Other days I barely want to look at my blog. Be sure to take advantage of the good days. Those are the days you want to type up 3 or 4 articles and schedule them ahead. Its always good to be ahead than behind. The key to successful blogging is content. The more, the merrier.
Why You?
Why you? Why your blog? There are other blogs in your niche. Why should I bypass theirs? Do you offer something that they don’t? These are things to think about. If you chose a good niche then 9 times out of 10 you aren’t going to be the only blog out their about it. You’re going to have to set yourself apart from the crowd.
Traffic Doesn’t Come Easy.
You’re going to have to work for your traffic. Some pay for it. Some spend countless hours on their SEO for it. Some social network for it. How you do it is up to you and your niche. Everything doesn’t work for everybody. It’s also good to point out that every form of traffic doesn’t get you the same type of visitors.
