Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the chapter will not be having a 2020-2021 season in its usual format. However, we received GOOD NEWS from the ARS that our application for a one-time grant to cover the cost of a virtual meeting has been approved!

Our September 9, 2020 virtual meeting will be with Heloise DeGrugillier via Zoom at 7:30 PM. Advance registration (for up to 50 participants) is required in order for Heloise to have a list of people to admit to the meeting. If you are interested in attending this meeting contact our chapter president Reita Powell at BergenCountyARS@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Our chapter members hope to plan future virtual events. Please check this page periodically for updates.
Meanwhile, please visit The American Recorder Society's home page https://americanrecorder.org/ for a comprehensive list virtual playing opportunities in other locations and tips for getting the best experience online.

For visitors to this site who are interested in our chapter, we encourage you to read below about how we have conducted our meetings in past seasons and hope to do so in the future when the pandemic has subsided.

Welcome to the Bergen County Chapter of the American Recorder Society! During "better times" monthly playing sessions are led by professional teachers September through June on the second Wednesday at Congregation Adas Emuno in Leonia, NJ from 7:30-9:30 PM.  Players of all levels join together as one class.  Each meeting ends with socializing and refreshments.

Our annual membership fee is announced before the start of a new season.  There is a per-session fee for non-members.

We would like to encourage anyone new to playing the recorder to visit The American Recorder Society website's section for free online lessons.  Classes fill up fast, but they are planning to offer more classes soon.
