Research

My research is in the area of Donaldson-Thomas theory, which is a general machine that attaches enumerative, (or refined, or motivic...) invariants to Calabi-Yau 3 folds -- objects "from" string theory that lie at the crossroads of a lot of different subjects in modern mathematics. While the origin of this theory, then, could be said to be in Physics, I am very much a pure mathematician, studying connections between geometric representation theory, algebraic geometry, combinatorics, cluster algebras and nonabelian Hodge theory.

There is a brief outline of all of my research interests here

My papers and preprints, along with a little explanation of how they fit in with these projects, are here.

Here are some notes for talks I've given over the years on my research.
