Seung Joon Choi is interested in complex systems and phenomena came out from a simple factor. With new media, he is trying to express the complexity that occurs within the network among various relationships. And he likes to develop user-friendly interface which anyone can easily participate in constructing narratives of his artwork. Through this, he proposes the media artist can be media itself. He loves to play crossing the boundaries around the uncertainty area which lies between void and existence.

He believes that the potential of media arts will inspire various education levels. To get into the action, he learns and collaborates with various artists in plastic arts, design, music, literature, drama and dance. He also makes scientific subjects including computer science storytelling. Through this process, he would like to make a connection with people and share knowledge, mind, and culture.

I am using XNA a lot to make my art works from the beta of XNA. In the past, i used OpenGL in .net framework then i moved to Managed DirectX. so it is no wonder for me to use XNA. i usally sketch my idea using Processing(http://www.processing.org) or ActionScript because it's just good tool for rapid prototyping and i convert those codes to my xna based framework for the finalization. that is the usual process of my work. Recently i adopted WPF because of it's neat and gpu accelerated vector graphics feature. i made some wpf + xna framework for it. i use xna for 3d layer and wpf for 2d layer. and in the concept of interactive art. i use computer vision method a lot. i implemented my own vision tool kit using XNA and Directshow.net lib. it's done by some GPGPU method. so it's very fast and i can get several perspectives of image simultaneoulsy for various natural user interactions.

here's are some images from my basic experiments with XNA (some of them are done by processing)

this is a snapshot image of my vision tool kit (earlier version)

these are my featured images of representitive works (first few are done by OpenGL, Managed DirectX. most of them are done by XNA, and most of them are also interactive installations)

Some times I do VJing performance with famous musicians in Korea or indi bands. I used to make realtime interactive audio visuals for the performance. those are snapshots from it.

there are another pictures that i did the VJing performance in an university festival.

check it out these too. i am working with several companies to make new business items. those are some kind of media art + sns(social network system) experiments that uses sms or mms via mobile phones. (XNA)

one of the projects that i am recently focusing on is called IMHD (Interactive Multiple Highdefinition Display). it is a scalable large 3d surface that can interact with natural way. (XNA)

in my first solo exhibition i tried the implementation of WPF + XNA. it's an exhibition for kids that considers the value of experiencing.

+ preparation for the exhibition (1), (2)

i am also a volunteer of creative commons korea who is in charge of media art with cc. i was the facillitator of 3rd cc salon in Korea last year (2007).

i participated 2nd cc salon in seoul too.

since i am a co-founder of a kindergarten i do many experiments with kids in UX contexts. and i am trying to share new media digital literacy with education units, teachers, parents in my city. because i believe grass root culture is very important and i have firm belief that the context of new media art can bring positive changes of korea's learning culture. i'd like to learn from world wide about this kind of concepts. so that is why i am going to attend the Scratch Conference at MIT. i am going to perform a workshop there with subject called 'Creative Collaboration with Scratch : A media art performance approach'. i have been thinking about porting scratch applet to XNA or Silverlight or making new VPL(visual programming language) environment for kids.

here is some pictures of the recent workshop with parents. and some related pictures (1), (2)

enough for describing what i am doing ?
