This project is based on my personal interests in the area of sleep disturbance. It is based on a prior intervention recently published with good outcomes. I have created these modules to enable a person to increase their sleep literacy beyond basic knowledge competencies. There are skills that must be mastered which these modules attempts.
Aim Statement: Using self-directed, video based sleep modules informed by CBT-I, improve sleep quality metrics with an effect size of 0.3 or greater in at least one of these metrics using independent T test by the first N=100 learners.
The project is a quality and process improvement project to enable the above aim statement. This follows a PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) cycle.
Plan:
-Assess needs for sleep literacy and sleep problems
-Translation of prior sleep treatment work to self-directed learning
Do:
-content development
-website development
-advertise to target learners
Study:
-Outcome Measures: Online forms to measure metrics (ISI scores, DBAS scores, subjective sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep durations, time in bed, and sleep training satisfaction) with forcing function
-Process Measures: forcing function built in to modules with hidden links to ensure step-wise procedures are followed and outcome measures are entered
-Balancing Measures: Week 4 and Beyond module placed to prevent delay in care for those persons whom require clinical attention. Recommendations to seek professional help is emphasized. Additionally, sleep prescription training emphasizes not to restrict sleep less than 4.5 hours. Monitor for negative outcome measures (worsening metrics).
Act:
-Implement feedback to enhance the process of learning (modules); enhance content based on outcome measures.
-Conduct reviews and implementations input q100 learners (week 3 data)
