Words from the Prez, November 2014

Thanksgiving is the time of year where people take time to reflect and express on gratefulness for the things and people in their lives. According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, gratitude means “the state of being grateful, thankfulness”.

There are many things in my life for which I am thankful, my health, my family, my friends, my dog and the freedom that many Americans continue to fight for us to keep. I am also

thankful to work with great educators who work hard to ensure that our students are learning and to work in a school district that will listen and take into consideration our opinions and suggestions.

It is very easy at this time of year to let stress take over, and forget the many things in our life that bring us to “the state of thankfulness”. My goal this holiday season is to take a deep breath and remember the many things in my life for which I am thankful.

One way that I am going to express my gratefulness is to ring the bell for the Salvation Army at Hobby Lobby on December 13. I will be sending a sign up and I hope that many of you will sign up for a 30 minute time slot with me. It is such a small way to show support and also to help out our community.

I hope as this holiday season begins that you can take time to reflect and remember everything that brings thanks or the feeling of gratitude in your life.
