Words from the Prez for May 2014:

Final thoughts at the end of the year . . .

This past weekend I attended the OEA delegate assembly, the annual meeting where we debate resolutions, set legislative goals, and approve a budget for the organization.   This year all six candidates for state Superintendent were invited to come and speak, and five of them actually accepted the invitation.  After hearing the candidates, I can only encourage each of you to do your own research and VOTE on June 24th

In addition to taking care of association business several local associations, including Bartlesville, received awards.  The BEA bargaining team received the OEA Collective Bargaining Award, Judy Allen received a Golden Apple for communications, and the BEA was named a 5 star local again this year.  I was pleased to accept those awards on behalf of our local association.

I would like to thank everyone that has been involved in association activities this year.  Thanks to all the officers for doing your part, and keeping me on track.  Thanks to the building representatives for dutifully attending all those rep meetings and being the voice for the members in your building.  I would like to thank all the members who supported this organization by serving on committees, ringing bells at Christmas, donating supplies to the SPCA, writing letters to legislators, and supporting us financially with your dues.

I appreciate each and every one of you, and the work that you do.

Hang in there for a few more weeks, and have a great summer!

 Cheryl Fentress BEA President
