Words from the Prez for February

As I sit here thinking about all the changes in education, the changes remind me of everything association has done to ensure that the changes are fair to members and that we have a voice in the changes that are about to take place.  The administration and the board values the ideas we have given to changes that are happening all over the state of Oklahoma, not every association is allowed to voice their ideas.  We are fortunate and privileged to have this voice but our voice needs to be stronger.  As I stated at the beginning of the school year our voice is only as strong as our membership and how involved everyone is in the membership.  We cannot rely on a few to voice our ideas; everyone needs to be involved to help our voice become stronger.

How can you become involved?  Come to the meetings they are generally held the second Wednesday of every month, ask you building representative when, where and what time they are being held and learn what else you can do to be involved.  Become an officer, tell your building representative or email me that you would like to become an officer to become more involved.  Recruit people in your building to become members so that they can become part of our voice.

While it does take time to become involved, it does not take as much time as you think.  Become a more involved part of our voice, and then see what our membership can do.   I appreciate each and every member we have and I look forward to the rest of the school year.
