Budget Cuts Update, 4/14

Post date: Apr 14, 2010 7:30:33 PM

The Superintendent has accelerated the budget development process so that staff will know sooner about possible cuts and reassignments.  Usually we wait until early June to send a budget to the Board of Education, but the Budget Development Committee is now slated to provide its recommendation at the noon board meeting on Thursday, May 6.  Noon board meetings are smaller-scale workshop meetings where the public may attend, but no public comment is heard.

That would allow the recommendation to be made public on May 6 and then the Board of Education would consider the recommended budget as an action item at its regular meeting at 5:30 pm on Monday, May 17.  Public comment is allowed at a regular board meeting.
