Observations and Evaluations
When you are observed, not everything can be seen in your classroom during the few minutes that your evaluator is present. Our chief negotiator, Alana Murphy, has put together a great, short video that demonstrates how to upload items to your portfolio so that all of your greatness can be present when determining your scores.
From Alana, "While observation scores do not 'matter' in the sense that they are not like a report card that contributes to an average that is listed on our evaluation, I do agree with you that they do matter, especially to us. They capture a point in time and from a professional perspective give us feedback to better ourselves and our craft." If you disagree with the scores, you should write a written statement noting your disagreement, clearly listing the indicator. Include something as an artifact. In the document, request it be filed with your observation notes. Upload the same documents to OKTLE in the portfolio.
If you have further questions, reach out to Alana Murphy or one of our Presidents, Anna Thom or Nate Vance.

What Cool Thing Are You Doing?
Blythe Moseman, freshman English teacher at BHS, has done a cool thing in her classroom! "We're doing horror stories, but I'm implementing UDL principles from our professional development a few weeks ago. The students get choices of what story to read, what group to do it with, how they show their learning with choice boards, and they get lots of structured talk time. It's been a game changer in how my classroom operates and it seems like most kids are really excited to be here (a feat in October, for sure!)." Keep being cool, Blythe, and check your school mail for a cool gift card!
Are you doing something cool? If you are reading a good book, or listening to a great podcast, or going to a cool place or doing any cool thing, complete THIS FORM. You could win a gift card to some cool place and be featured in our enews!
