Dear BEA Members,
Welcome back! As we begin our second and third years serving as your BEA co-presidents, we want to sincerely thank you for your continued membership and commitment to our union. We look forward to working with and for you as we navigate the year ahead together. Wishing you a strong and positive start to the school year!
In solidarity,
Nate Vance and Anna Thom

Thank you for your membership.
We realize you have a choice in your professional affiliation, but we believe that OEA is the best choice. There are many reasons for this (some will be listed below), but there are some that really stand out. Attached, please find a graphic that shares the major differences, and obvious pluses, for being a member of THE professional organization in the state.

It's Not Too Late!
Do you have a friend who wants to join BEA? They can join by autopay and STILL get $100 (if they've never been a member before). If they tell us that they joined because YOU recruited them, your name will go into a drawing for $50 cash! The more members we have, the stronger we are! Joining is easy! Just share THIS LINK (https://okea.org/join-oea/) with them!
Have them reach out to Heather Davis and tell her they've joined and who recruited them. This recruitment event ends on Friday, September 26.

Protecting Your Time
With our virtual days gone, we want to best protect your time. Our negotiations team established the memorandum of understanding concerning the extra meetings that could easily become overwhelming.
Language from our Negotiated Agreement: Meeting Limitations: Site leadership-directed meetings shall not exceed sixty (60) minutes per month per teacher off contract. Site leadership-directed meetings shall not exceed ten (10) planning periods per month maximum (not to exceed three (3) per week), per teacher.
To keep track of our meetings and help our conversations and eventual negotiations, please add your meetings to THIS FORM. If you notice that someone from your building has already added a meeting, there is no need to add it again.

MY DEALS (member benefit app)
As a member, you are entitled to an array of discounts locally and abroad! When you download the app, you will sign in (email Heather Davis if you need your membership number) and you can immediately start saving no matter where you are. The app reads your location and shows offers that are not only beneficial but local to your current location. Download your MY DEALS app today! Available on Android, Apple and Google.

Mark Your Calendars!
Next week, you'll receive calendar invites for our BEA events this school year. If you have any questions about any of them, please reach out to Heather Davis (vice president).
