3-Week Keys to Success (K2S)
Purpose: Keys to Success On-Line Class is a structured three (3) week virtual program for BCDSS foster care young adults ages 18 to 21 who are preparing for future independence. Keys to Success include staff mentors, opportunities, resources, and skill building classes to best promote future independence. The program provides experiential learning activities to youth in the areas of employment, education, housing, health and life-skills pursuits. The young adults in Keys to Success will visualize, plan and take steps towards their independent living goals. Each young adult will have a personal RB21 specialist to coach them every step of the way! Incentives can be earned in Keys to Success!
Description:
Youth will develop a Resume, practice interview skills
Youth will apply for jobs, and when available attend On-Line Job Fairs
Youth will learn about educational and vocational opportunities, online college campus tours, how to complete a FAFSA application and educational options
Youth will learn about rent court, how to read a lease and how to apply for income based housing and basic household maintenance
Youth will learn about money management, types of accounts, credit basics, how to save money and create a personal budget
Youth will learn how to establish a home and budget for needed items - A fun online shopping challenge activity is offered
Community partners and online presentations can include healthy living and stress reduction, Yoga, personal health, maintaining insurance
Youth will attend an online cooking class - A Fun Online Graduation Ceremony
Location: Online - Google Meet invite by Ready by 21
Incentive: $375
Time: Monday- Friday 11:00 am - 2:00 pm for three weeks
