Stay at Home Volunteers

If you are a licensed amateur radio operator, we need your help! (If you are not, we can help you get licensed)

With potential for violent weather rolling through Southwest Ohio, we will need your help, at the Communications Center, in the field, from your car, and from your home.

With potential for terrorism on the rise and Homeland Security increasing its alert status, we will need your help, at the Communications Center, in the field, from your car, and from your home.

With potential for an earthquake rocking Southwest Ohio, we will need your help, at the Communications Center, in the field, from your car, and from your home.

Are you house bound? Yes, YOU can be of great assistance!

BCAREC needs "off-site" operators to perform radio communications both formal and informal or both into and out of Butler County. BCAREC may need someone to make and take phone calls for additional help, equipment, agencies, etc. and communicate this infromation over radio. Also, you can be an Alternate Net Control Station should the main communication center become inoperative, become overloaded, need backup, and/or need communication relays. You can work as a Net Control Station to gather resources, provide general information, and guide operators to their assignments if they are not familiar with the area - all from your home!

Your volunteer services are invaluable to BCAREC and the community even if you're at home!

For example, after a disaster, the phone lines may not be working in the area - most likely they will not be working.

  • BCAREC may need to contact additional teams, members or get specialized equipment to the teams in the field by radio. YOU can be the vital link of communications!

  • BCAREC also may need operators at shelters to report the number of people there, food needed, bedding requirements, medical concerns, and special needs.

  • BCAREC may need operators at the local hospitals to help keep track of the available beds, alert the staff of injuries that and inbound to them, supplement hospital temporary phone outages, etc.

There are numerous ways you can help with the communication skills and other knowledge you already have!

To become a part of these potential activities, attend our meetings and join our group so that you can become a valuable volunteer by receiving needed training provided by our members.

We will be looking forward to seeing you this year and hope you become an active BCAREC member!
