Why we are breeding Siberian Cats

Kent has always been an animal lover. For the first Christmas after we were married, he stated that all he wanted for Christmas was a pet! Since we lived in an apartment at the time, this meant a cat. Although I knew I was allergic, I had a love for cats, since I grew up with one. That Christmas, we brought home our first beautiful girl, Crystal. She was a mixed breed cat -- mostly Himalayan and Ragdoll. Eventually it was evident to Kent that we would not be able to keep her, since I continually had piles of tissues, and was unable really to give her the affection she needed. Happily, she was able to find a new family where she was totally adored.

Shortly after Crystal came to us, I found out about the hypo-allergenic qualities of the Siberian breed, and that February we added Cassia to our home. Cassia's Page

By August, we completed our family by getting Dilly. Dilly's Page

We have been so delighted with the results! It is wonderful to have a cat and rub my face in its fur without worrying about having a reaction --- red, swollen eyes, itchy throat, difficulty breathing. Even with the several cats we have now, I seldom, if ever, experience troublesome symptoms. Because of our own experience, and the delightful nature of this breed, we wanted to share with those around us.

We now have also been able to add a dog to our home as well (Haiku, the sheltie), and he helps to socialize the cats.

Meaning of Basilic Blessing

Our theme verse is Matthew 6:33, which states, "Seek first the KINGDOM of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you as well."

When we started our cattery, it was evident that God was giving these cats to us as one of the "all things" that He was adding to us, and that He intended for us to share the blessing.

Basilic comes from the Latin root, and carries the meaning of "KINGLY" or "ROYAL". We chose this word to tie into our theme verse, and because Siberian cats are so beautiful and majestic.

The Hebrew word for "BLESSING" is Berakhah. It means a blessing, benediction, benefit, favor, peace, invocation of good, a happy or blessed man.

It is used in the sense of a gift or present to gain goodwill. It also has a similar sense as shalom, an offering of peace and over-abundant goodwill to others, and a state of wholeness or completeness.

The Greek word for "BLESSING" is "MAKARIOS", meaning "to be fully satisfied". Makarios differs from "happy" because "happy" describes a person who has good fortune or favorable circumstances. In the Biblical sense, a blessed person is one whom GOD makes fully satisfied, not because of favorable circumstances, but because He indwells the believer through Christ. The person who has makarios has satisfaction that comes from God regardless of whether circumstances are favorable.

WE HOPE THAT OUR CATS & KITTENS ARE A BLESSING TO THE FAMILIES WHO HAVE THEM! We hope that we can bring a blessing of peace and sense of completeness to you.
