We would love to see every K/1/2 student join in the fun. Your donation buys your WHOLE family a night dancing and dessert. Tunes will be spinning from 6:30 to 8:00. Let's rally together to show Barton that their youngest students may seem tiny, but they are mighty big when it comes to school spirit, dancing, and fundraising!

Immerse Yourself in Healing Forests
Sunday, May 5, 2019 2-5 PM Woodlake Nature Center, RichfieldTicket Value $40 Pay What You Can Donation $15-$65 15 Adult Tickets Available
Hosted by: David Motzenbecker, parent of Fiona
I will guide you on a 3-hour immersive, meditative, and therapeutic forest walk based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku. We will slow down and connect our senses with the healing, stress-reducing beauty of a little-known hidden corner of Minneapolis' green forested spaces. We will slip away from our phones and revive our relationship with the forest and ourselves via unique invitations. We will share our stories and then share a tea ceremony at which we will drink tea brewed from foraged plants. We will re-enter the tame world, renewed with the gift of nature that can be enjoyed time and again. This event is for adults only.
My name is David Motzenbecker, Barton parent of a 1st grader. I'm a Certified Forest Therapy Guide, and an award-winning landscape architect with nearly 20 years of experience. I will bring the unique perspective of a designer's eye and philosophy to each walk. I am the recipient of fellowships that have connected me with forests and cultures in the U.K. and Japan. I teach and speak on the healing power of nature. I'm funny, personable, welcoming, and kind. Guest must arrange their own transportation to Wood Lake Nature Center in Richfield. If weather is dangerous, the experience will be cancelled within 24 hours. The experience is very low-impact. Restrooms are available.
What to bring: Closed-toed hiking boots/shoes Water, if desired Mosquito/Tick Repellent; Sunscreen Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing Portable Camp Stool, if desired Hiking pole, if desired.

Swing from the 300 year old oak tree, play bean bag toss or ladder ball on the hill, play board games in the “party barn”, dance party in the hayloft, go on hikes in the woods, look for frogs down by the creek or sit on the deck and make new Barton friends.
