7 Reg

7 (Training) Regiment Army Air Corps currently delivers flying training for Army Air Corps pilots, and comprises:

    • 670 Squadron: responsible for the operational-training phase of the Army Pilots Course.
    • 671 Squadron: conducts conversion-to-type training on the Lynx, Gazelle and Bell 212 aircraft for graduates of the operational training hhase. The squadron also provides training for the Aviation Crewman specialism.
    • 673 Squadron: carries out conversion-to-type training on the Apache aircraft for both experienced Army pilots and the newly qualified, who then go on to their respective regiments to complete their combat training.

The Army Aviation Centre's Flying Wing reformed as 7 (Training) Regiment on 1 April 2009, as part of the School of Army Aviation, subsequently retitled the Army Aviation Centre on 1 August 2009. Assets from 7 Regiment (Volunteers), based at Netheravon airfield from 1995 until 31 March 2009, were transferred to the retitled regiment.

The Regiment is also home to 25 Flight Army Air Corps and the Bell 212 aircraft, following their drawdown from Belize during August 2011.
