Dennis Pocernich asked what changes had been made to the Comprehensive Plan. Susan Jacobson, Plan Commission Chairperson explained there were a lot of language changes and the removal of the data sheets from the 2009 survey. Sentences and paragraphs that were updated such as back in 2009-2010 Ashland provided fire and ambulance service, adding Washburn now provides fire and ambulance service. The Plan Commission addressed Cafo’s in a statement not recommending Cafo’s in the Town. Deer farms were not addressed nor were water bottling faculties but can be in the future.
John Nyara explained this was a procedure that took 4-5 years to go through, taking a section of the plan booklet at each quarterly meeting. We all went through the plan booklet several times during this 4-5 year period trying to condense the plan and add what was needed. The future land use map has been updated with the several land use changes that were all done by resolution and public hearing and adopted by the Town Board. The new future land use map was produced for the County and the Town by Northwest Regional Planning Commission of Spooner.
Mike Bark referred to the appendices and explained that the data from the 2020 US Census is available in the 2023 Bayfield County Comprehensive Plan. After a few questions from the audience Dennis Pocernich motioned to recommend to the Town Board to adopt the updated 2024 Comprehensive Plan and Future Land use Map.
