Town Of Barksdale Board Meeting

Call To Order: Meeting was called to order at 7 pm by John Nyara, Chairman.
Verification of Posting: Sanders confirmed it was posted.
Approval of Previous Month’s Minutes: Bretting made a motion to dispense with reading the December 14, 2021 minutes, seconded by Nohl. Motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Comprehensive Plan Update: Nothing to report.
Grant Updates: Grant applications have been submitted for the Cozy Corner Project. To date, we have used $5000 of the ARPA Grant to Bayfield Wireless.
Ondossagon Road Update:
John, Jayson and Chris have met with Attorney, Max Lindsay with regards to proceeding with a lawsuit against the Angelo Luppino and the Engineering firm, MSA out of Rhinelander, WI who oversaw the Ondossagon Road construction.
Cozy Corner Update: Previously discussed under Grants Update.
NEW BUSINESS:
Public Input: Someone broke the new plexi-glass window that was installed in the skating rink building.
Road Foreman's Report:
CAT serviced the grader. Adjustment was made for lifting the blades and works much better.
Dave changed fuel filters and have extras on hand. These need to be changed every 500 hours.
Shoes for the front-end loader have been ordered and should arrive any day.
Grading continues up in the barrens on the Cherryville side.
Plowing and sanding continues as needed.
Jayson suggested an early start time of 4:00 am for the snow plow drivers to get the main roads opened for the bus routes and residents needing to get to work.
The Board asked that Dave communicate with them when he is taking a day off from work. Dave said he will text or email them.
Clerk’s Report:
Thank you received by the Bayfield County Sheriff’s Dept. for us supporting the K9 unit with funds received from the aluminum can collection. Thank you received from Eleanor Felho on FR245 for excellent snow plowing.
Chairman’s Report:
John and Jayson will be attending training on the new voting machines this Thursday, January 13 from 8:30 to noon at the Bayfield County Annex Building. They will be bringing our old voting machines and bringing back the new ones. There is going to be a primary election this February for the Washburn School Board. The Bay Area Solid Waste Board members will meet on Thursday, January 20th at 7 pm at the Barksdale Town Hall.
Treasurer’s Report:
Sanders gave overview of town’s finances. To date, have collected 41% of 2021 Property Taxes for Barksdale. Will be at the Town Hall this Saturday, January 15 from 9-noon for those wishing to pay in-person. Wisconsin Towns Association meeting is scheduled for 7 pm on Monday, January 24 at the Pilsen Town Hall.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting will be held on February 8, 2022, at 7:00 pm.
Monthly Bills:
Jayson made a motion to accept and approve the monthly bills presented, seconded by Bretting. Motion carried.
