OLD BUSINESS
Comprehensive Plan Update:
Jayson reported tat the Comprehensive Plan will hold it's quartly meeting on September 12, 2022 at 6:00 pm.
Grants Update:
BIL Grant- Clerk reported we have not heard anything yet on the BIL Grant but that there is not as much money for the grant as originally reported so the chance of getting the grant this year is not very good.
ARPA Grant- We have now received the total grant money. $5000 has been spent on Bayfield Wireless.
Skating Rink:
Paul Beeksma has started to take apart the skating rink building. Dave has contacted Xcel and is waiting for the letter to bury the wire. Dave will bring in 2 loads of sand. Waiting to receive permits approved by the county at their July 21st meeting. Looking to put up a 16’ X 18’ building using 2/4s, and OSB sheeting. Will use T&G natural pine color for the interior and a wall mount heater. The roof will have a 6/12 pitch. The building can get knocked down and brought to the dump. Once the new building is complete the county will reimburse the $5000 awarded for the grant.
Ondossagon Road:
John talked to Max and Luppino had core samples done. Their samples came out to be very close to the samples we had done. Nothing additional at this time.
Cozy Corner Road:
John talked to Cooper Engineering and has a short form contract for us. Board would like to have the engineering done this year. Sue has check on loan rates at the different banks. We can check on the rates as when we get closer to closing on needing the money. The engineering company will take care of working with the property owners on right-of-way issues.
NEW BUSINESS:
Public Input:
Mike Mlynarek asked about Engoe Road. We currently have an estimate of approximately $80,000. This would be to pulverize and gravel a portion of Engoe. The least that needs to be done is to patch the cracks and holes on the road.
Bayfield County Bridges:
The board went over the culverts that need to be done in the town. There are 2 on Mashlan Road and one on the end of the road about half way done that needs to be replaced. Jayson made a motion to put in culvert and liners on Mashlan Road and John 2nded. Motion Carried.
Office Addition/Bathroom Upstairs:
Clerk asked about putting in some type of office at the town hall whether adding something upstairs or cleaning and redoing a section downstairs so that documents and paperwork can be stored at a central location for all board members to access. This could be incorporated if a new bathroom was put in upstairs. This is something that the ARPA funds could be used for.
Snowplowing:
A application for snowplowing services will be posted on the website and mailed in September by Sue to the 79 applicants from last year. Jayson made a motion to leave the rates the same as the 2021-2022 tax year.
Town Picnic:
The annual Town Picnic will be held on September 10, 2022 from noon until four. Sue is going to order 2 banners and check on post cards to send out to the town residents.
Road Foreman’s Report:
Dave updated that he and Tom have been busy with grading, patching, mowing and maintenance. He put the new tires on the tractor and has checked the roads out in the barrens. Dave called Wausau about the blade and we can pick it up with our trailer. Dave was told by the supervisors to repair the holes on Lakeshore Drive before doing those on Engoe and Bono.
Clerk’s Report:
Clerk reported that we received a quote for Lakeshore Drive for $24,224.00. She was also able to get into the SAMs account so that has now been updated.
Chairman’s Report:
Chairman reported that he contacted Bayfield County and that the fire number and the mailbox will be going up for BASW.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer’s report is attached.
Next Meeting:
The next regular meeting date is September 13, 2022, at 7:00 at the Barksdale Town Hall.
