OLD BUSINESS

Comprehensive Plan Update: Nothing new to report. Next Meeting scheduled for June 7, 2021 at 6:00pm unless there is a permit request

Grant Updates: Would like to put up the counter on Cozy Corner Road for vehicle count.

Compactor and Reclaimer: Will borrow a reclaimer before purchasing. Ordered a compactor from McCoy should be in in 6-8 weeks. The cost was $31500.

Engoe Road: The work is currently be done and the contract was signed for the work from Ondossagon Road west. The cost is $82731.30. It was talked about that the east side of Wannabo needs to be redone from Bjork Road to the Highway but the estimated cost would be about $300,000.00 and the Town of Washburn needs to get on board as this is a shared road.

Terwilliger Road: The Town of Eileen received a quote from Eric at Northwoods Paving but it only included the paving cost so we are going to pass at this time on this project.

Pierce Road: No action yet. Our ½ of the cost would be about $25,000 but no actual estimate has been received. Tabled until next meeting.

Public Nuisance Ordinance: This is regarding the kayak business from Washburn that was plugging up the boat landing down at the Bono Creek landing. As the State owns the property, the town has no authority on who launches.

NEW BUSINESS:

Public Input: Becky Marquard who lives on Nolander Road inquired about renting the town hall on June 12, 2021 for a bridal shower. She was informed the fee is $25 and $50 if the kitchen is used. Two checks will be written; one for the fee and one for a deposit. The deposit check will be returned or shredded after inspection.

The Board was thanked for putting in the dock down at Bono Creek. There were questions regarding the road washing out on the lakeside (south side) by the dock and who was responsible for the repair. Dave said he had talked to the DNR regarding this and are trying to get Shanie there to look at it. DNR said they were looking for Rock and may have some this fall. It is the DNR’s responsibility to fix this. The board said if the town fixed it they would want reimbursement from the DNR. There was mention that there may be some coastal management grants out there and Ben Dufford from the County may have information regarding these.

Mike mentioned as a reminder that the Board of Review will be August 4th at 5:00 p.m. and that one member of the Board must be trained every two years by the Department of Revenue.

Public Input: Ron Pagac did research on the fuel cost the town is paying for gas and commented that we are currently paying $50 more at Como than if we received fuel from Midland. Chris Bretting said that the Town has checked and Como has come in cheaper at the time of contract. We have used Midland in the past and the service has been inadequate. The town will continue to get a yearly quote from both Midland and Como.

Ondossagon School: On June 4, 2020 there was a company formed called Ondossagon LLC by Justin Reydo, but the School and Administration building is still in David and Callae Hyde’s name. The school is an eyesore and is becoming severely dilapidated. Lynn Divine said she would look into county zoning rules regarding this.

Salt Storage Building: Sue Sandors asked about possibly getting a salt storage building. The board said that the last bid came in between $75,000-$100,000. This maybe something we will look at in the future.

Xcel’s Temporary Powerline: Xcel is putting in a temporary powerline that will run up Ondossagon Road. There is concern that the trucks may damage the road and John said he spoke with them about this and told them this is a new road and any damage would need to be fixed. The power company is using pallets to help with any road damage.

Skating Rink: This last fall Paul Beeksma fixed up the current building at the skating rink. There maybe funding in the near future to replace the current building with a new one. Chris Bretting said the county may have some funding. Lynn said she will talk to the Health Department regarding the funding.

Road Foreman’s Report and Discussion of Road Inspection: Lucius stated that everything is going well. He has been sweeping and stated that the culvert on Fischer Road is rotted and needs to be fixed. He has almost completed everything on the list that Jayson gave to him from road inspection. John asked him to double check Engo Road on the east side and make sure that all the holes are patched.

Clerk’s Report: Angie Truchon reported that she had received some emails and letters from Enbridge, a Coastal Management Survey for anyone interested in doing this, Infrasture Grant information and that they are looking for someone to fill a spot on the Board of Adjustment at the county.

Chairman’s Report: We need to set a new contract with Bay Area Waste.

Treasurer’s Report: A copy of the Treasurer’s Report is attached.

Next Meeting: The next meeting date is June 8, 2021

Approval of Bills: Nyara made a motion to approve the bills as presented, seconded by Bretting Motion carried.

Adjournment: There being no further business to conduct, the meeting adjourned at 8:38 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Angela M Truchon, Clerk
