Background

The aim of BEET is to bring together researchers working on bargaining and generate fruitful cross-fertilization with a multi-methodological emphasis. The workshop is organized annually, the location alternating between Europe and the US.

The first event was organized by Emin Karagözoğlu at Bilkent University in 2016. That first workshop brought together theorists and experimentalists working on bargaining. Here is the link to the first event's program.

In 2018, Matthew Backus and Emin Karagözoğlu co-organized the second event at Columbia University. With the second event, empirical researchers using naturally occurring data were added to the group.

In 2019, Leif Helland and Emin Karagözoğlu co-organized the third event at BI-Norwegian Business School.

In 2020, Guillaume Frechette and Emin Karagözoğlu were planning to organize it at NYU. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the fourth workshop was held online.

In 2021, Arda Gitmez and Emin Karagözoğlu co-organized the fifth event as an online event due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2022, Christoph Vanberg and Emin Karagözoğlu co-organized the sixth event at Heidelberg University.

In 2023, Hülya Eraslan and Emin Karagözoğlu co-organized the seventh event at Rice University.

In 2024, Arno Riedl and Emin Karagözoğlu will co-organize the eighth event at Maastricht University.
