BANGOR & PISCATAQUIS LOCOMOTIVES

The B&P was the oldest component of the BAR. It was opened in 1869 and leased by the BAR in 1892.

B&P Number 1 was built by Portland for the Grand Trunk in 1848.

It was acquired in 1869 and scrapped in 1877.

B&P/BAR 3 was built by Portland in 1869 and scrapped in 1908.

B&P 4 Hamlin was built by Portland in 1869 and became BAR 4.

Hamlin is now BAR 4. It was retired in 1907 but not scrapped until 1914.

Number 1 of the Bangor & Kahtadin Iron Works was built by Amoskeag Mfg. Co. in 1852.

It had been a MEC engine, became B&P/BAR 6, was rebuilt in 1875 and was retired in 1899.

B&P 7 was built by Manchester in 1884 and was BAR 7 and, after 1907, BAR 209.

It was scrapped in 1914, possibly classified as an H-1.

BANGOR & AROOSTOOK 4-4-0's - The Bangor & Aroostock purchased twelve 4-4-0 type locomotives from the Manchester Locomotive Works in 1893, 1894 and 1895. Six had 16x24 inch cylinders and 69 inch drivers (203-208), four had 18x24 inch cylinders and 63 inch drivers (210-213) and two had 15x24 inch cylinders and 69 inch drivers (220-221). In addition, three 2-6-0 type engines built in 1895-1896 were rebuilt in 1915 as 4-4-0s.

H-2 204 was not scrapped until 1941.

H-2 207 is at Oakfield May 27, 1939.

H-2 207 was photographed by Ellis Spear in 1940 at Frankfort while on lease to the Mt.Waldo Granite Co.

In 1941 Number 207 was sold to the Walsh Construction Co.

H-2 208 is at Searsport in 1912.

K Class 211 was sold to the Belfast & Moosehead Lake in 1927 and numbered 16 (1st 16)

K Class 212 at Derby in 1932.

212 was scrapped in 1937.

212 is at Oakfield on February 22, 1936.

K Class 213 was sold to the Belfast & Moosehead Lake in 1936 to replace First 16.

Second 16 is at Belfast in 1937.
