IEEE-CAS students workshop [Website]
The IEEE-CAS outreach workshop is planned to give hands-on experience in various image processing and pattern recognition techniques for high school students and teachers. Students will be trained through simple image processing projects, using a set of predefined and easy to use image processing libraries. During the workshop students will be introduced to local research scientists from Industry and Academia, to share their insights and to enable them to think about a career in Circuits and Systems Society themes (CASS).
Although Indian varsity produces a large number of Engineers, the percentage of the school going students to that taking up higher education in CASS related area is very less. The number of students opting for a research career path after their university undergraduate studies in this area is even more depressing. Through this workshop, we intend to advocate and introduce the ever emerging CASS areas of multimedia and image processing, among the high school students and teachers. Further, this area is of prime importance to a society like India, where the use of multimedia technologies has been constantly increasing and has resulted in an increasing demand for CASS professionals. In addition, there is no interaction between the university research labs and high schools in India, which has impaired the quality of students and their interest shown towards learning Electronics and allied subjects. This workshop would act as a program to bridge the gap between the schools and academic research labs.

DB training
IBM DB2 UDB - While working as a system engineer in multinational Tata Consultancy Services company, our project involved interaction with different teams such as development, testing, configuration, support, administration, etc. Since most of them are focused only on their day-to-day task and naive or completely unaware about other technologies that help in the overall software product suite, I plan to conduct sessions that would introduce basic concepts of database, followed by project-specific database designs - both online and offline environment.
The training session was conducted during the working hours, therefore, I had to plan each session not more than 2 hours in a day and circulated the benefit of attending this training. People from different teams showed interest to understand the database, the duration of the course was 2 weeks. Through this sessions, the knowledge of back-end technology in software applications became clearer and also the participants felt that the understanding of the database helped in their day to day activities to take well-informed decisions.
IEEE students seminar [Certificate]
During undergraduate, in an attempt to educate 9th to 12th standard students about various possibilities that 20th century has provided them, we organized a seminar that will help school students make aware of different education programs before embarking into the journey of career deciding degree programs in college. The IEEE sponsored event is planned to give an introductory knowledge about the various degree programs. The idea was to help them understand what each degree course signifies through various applications in a real world that they can relate to either research activities, Industry projects, etc. As part of this, final year undergraduate students presented their project and we saw an overwhelming interest from students asking questions as they were better able to relate and understand a particular field of engineering (Computer science, Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Electrical, etc).
