Conduct

Library Conduct

    • No smoking/smokeless tobacco, eating or drinking in the library building. Please do not bring opened drinks or food items into the library. You may bring your bottle of water as long as it remains closed. The library has a water fountain near the fire exit door in the bound periodicals section.

    • In order to leave the library, materials must be checked-out.

  • All cadets must sign-in and out at front desk as posted -- every time they enter or leave the library

    • Disruptive individuals will be asked to leave.

    • The class C uniform or BDUs are worn in the library during daytime hours (uniform of the day). The class C(O) uniform may be worn at night. PT clothing is not permitted.

    • The computers in the library are to be used to conduct research. Sign-in before using a computer. Do not change any of the computer settings or save files on library computers. Library computer use is a privilege that can be revoked.

    • Any type of cell phone use is prohibited in the library at all times.

    • Classrooms and meeting rooms can only be reserved by faculty or staff members. The reserving faculty/staff member must be present with cadets in the reserved room at all times. Rooms can only be reserved for use during the library's regular hours.

    • Prints and copies are available for $0.10 per page. Payment is required for all prints and copies.

    • Warning Concerning Copyright Restrictions: The copyright law of the United States (title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.

Circulation Procedures

    • The books are shelved in open stacks so that patrons can serve themselves. Books removed from shelves should not be reshelved -- they should be left on tables, shelf-tops, or designated areas.

    • Reference books do not circulate outside of the library. Only faculty members can check-out AV materials or equipment.

    • Reserve books and materials are housed in a staff-only area and must be requested from a staff member. Reserve materials must be charged to you (you must show ID) and must be used only in the main reading room. These items do not circulate outside of the library and must be returned to a library staff member. Failure to return a reserve book or transferring the book to another cadet will result in a stick for FFI.

    • To open a library account, MMI and Judson students must show a valid photo ID, provide a local mailing address, and provide an e-mail address. Judson students must also provide a working phone number.

    • Photo IDs must be shown every time books are checked-out.

    • All circulating materials must be checked-out by a staff member.

    • A date slip in the back of the book will indicate the due date. Overdue notices are sent via e-mail. Failure to receive an overdue notice from the library does not relieve the patron of her/his responsibility to return materials. Names of those with overdue materials will be turned over to the Commandant's Office.
