Name: Dr. Marla Ann Baber, you can call me Dr. Baber or just Baber.
Mini Biography: I am happy to be in my 8th year at Franklin, my 35th year teaching! Everyday I learn from my students, and now with us moving to online learning even more! I believe that mathematics is the great gatekeeper and has been used to keep people from experiencing their full potential. I also believe that anyone can learn mathematics. My hope is to help you open that gate and do whatever you wish, math related or not.
I am a Beaver (OSU) and love the color orange along with being a Viking (PSU). I live in SE Pdx with my husband and cat named Junior. I have 2 daughters who graduated from Cleveland (boo, hiss) and are both going into the medical field. We all love the outdoors, camping, hiking and spending time canoeing and kayaking. I have 2 grandcats, Marshall and Felix, and a granddog, Bear.
Yes, I love math and being a teacher. I graduated with my BS in Mathematics Education from OSU and continued at PSU with my MS and my Doctorate in Math Education. I believe that you should never stop learning, be it in school or in the world. Mathematics is my way of making sense of the world, I believe you can look at any situation through the lens of mathematics.
I am so glad we are in-person, let's make the best of our time back at Franklin!
