TAX EXEMPT STATUS
A 501(c)(3) corporation granted exemption in November, 1955 to Bartlesville Pony League Inc., with the name of the League changed to Bartlesville Area Amateur Baseball, Inc. in February, 2001 Contributions to the organization are deductible in the manner and to the extent provided by section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
In order to meet this objective, BAAB relies almost exclusively on the generous donations of time, money, and work of our members, sponsors, coaches and directors. The quality of our program is dependent upon their continuous support. Outside of the umpires and one person in the concession stand, nobody associated with the league receives any compensation for work performed. It is important that the parents of our registered players participate in the proper maintenance and preparation of the fields before and after each game and practice
We have competitive and instructional divisions for under 14 boys. After a tryout, each team is drafted according to their prior season's order of finish in the league tournament and their number of returning players, in accordance with guidelines that have been established and utilized by almost all reputable baseball youth organizations and by this league since the 1950's. This is done to insure fairness and competitive teams. The league plays by Major League Baseball Rules with local addendums for time limits, run rules and pitching, primarily designed for the safety and health of the players
MISSION STATEMENT
BAAB seeks to protect and develop local youth by implanting ideals of sportsmanship, courage, obedience, loyalty, truth and reverence, so that they may become finer, stronger and happier young people and grow to be good, clean, healthy adults. This objective will be reached by providing supervised, competitive athletic games. The supervisors shall bear in mind at all times that the attainment of exceptional athletic skill or the winning of games is secondary, and that the molding of future citizens is of prime importance.
