Every classroom at Avon Early Learning Center at Avon East has one Head Room Parent and two Assistant Room Parents.

What are the Responsibilities of Room Parents?
Head Room Parent:
- Act as the primary Avon PTA contact for the classroom teacher and the Avon PTA Grade Rep
- Manage communication from PTA to classroom parents. Communication sent from PTA must be communicated to classroom parents within 24 hours.
- Send out Volunteer Form to classroom parents and manage volunteer assignments for PTA sponsored events
- Collect money for class gifts for teacher (Birthday, Holiday and End of the Year)
- Plan end of the year classroom activity with teacher and Assistant Room Parents
- Choose one the 3 activities to manage:
- Fall Celebration – Evening Fall Family Celebration for Grades P-2, details TBD, unlimited volunteers accepted for celebration
- Winter Celebration – Daytime Celebration in gyms (K-2), Preschool Celebration in Classroom, details TBD, 5 parent volunteers per classroom allowed to attend
- Spring Celebration – Evening Spring Family Celebration for P-2, details TBD, unlimited volunteers accepted for celebration
- Manage Theme Basket CRS Donation for classroom. Work with teacher to come up with theme, collect donations and assemble basket with classroom.
- Other responsibilities as needed specific to each Teacher
- Attend monthly PTA meetings
Assistant Room Parents:
- Assist the Head Room Parent as necessary
- Plan end of the year classroom activity with Teacher and Head Room Parent
- Choose one the 3 activities to manage
- Fall Celebration – Evening Fall Family Celebration for Grades P-2, details TBD, unlimited volunteers accepted for celebration
- Winter Celebration – Daytime Celebration in gyms (K-2), Preschool Celebration in Classroom, details TBD, 5 parent volunteers per classroom allowed to attend
- Spring Celebration – Evening Spring Family Celebration for P-2, details TBD, unlimited volunteers accepted for celebration
- Attend 1 Book Fair Wish List activity with classroom. One Assistant help with November Book Fair Wish Lists, One Assistant help with March Book Fair Wish Lists.
- Other responsibilities as needed specific to each Teacher

How to Become a Room Parent?
1. Join the PTA. Only active, paid members of the PTA are eligible to be Room Parents
2. Fill out Membership Form and select which position you would have interest in supporting. Pay dues here.
3. Room Parents will be selected and notified before October PTA Meeting. Attendance at the October PTA Meeting is mandatory for all new Head and Assistant Room Parents
