I made up a replacement seat using some sheet steel but I did not get any pics. This was just about the first bit of serious metalwork that I did on the car which also reminded me of one of the main reasons that I was holding back of starting the restoration - I was pretty crap at welding.
As I said previously, I don't intend to do a complete restoration to the original spec so the seat was more functional than a faithful copy.
For the lower edges between the front and rear axles I managed to get some sheet metal cut into strips 1M long. It was actually fairly easy to shape the strip with a wooden former placed in a vice using a cold chisel and hammer.
Using the metal strip as a pattern I cut off what was left of the old lips so that the new strips could be fitted by spot welding along the overlap.
Fortunately I managed to borrow a spot welder which made fixing this replacement edges quite easy.
The shiny metal banana shaped part is a really strong magnet pulled out of some trashed hard drives. These magnets are incredibly strong so mind your fingers with them but they are excellent for holding and adjusting the panels flush prior to welding.
