A/C Compressor Bypass

!! DO NOT REMOVE THE COMPRESSOR !!

The A/C clutch does not engage when the A/C is not turned on or when the A/C pressure sensor does not register sufficient system pressure, resulting in only the pulley spinning with the belt. As long as the pulley spins correctly, there is no need to remove or bypass the compressor.

Sometimes a damaged clutch or worn pulley bearings will result in needing to bypass the compressor from the belt drive system in order to keep driving the van.

Currently multiple companies make a bypass pulley and bracket combo that require the complete removal of the compressor. This is the worst most time consuming way of bypassing the compressor and leaves the rest of the system open to contaminates, making it so everything will need to be replaced in order for the A/C system to ever work correctly again.

THE FASTER, BETTER WAY

Install the factory A/C bypass pulley ( GM Genuine 12580772 ) in the provided bolt hole located lower, inboard of the compressor along with the shorter w/o air conditioning belt ( ACDelco 6K868, 6 rib belt / 86.8" ).

Need it cheaper/sooner? Cobble together a bypass pulley by using a tensioner pulley and an idler pulley's mounting hardware using parts sourced at a boneyard.
