SACs include reader, writer, computer use, separate accommodation and extra time for NCEA assessments. These are approved by the NZ Qualifications Authority (NZQA) - refer to the NZQA website for further information.
It is helpful for students to have a formal diagnosis and valid report (no more than 4 years old at Year 11) from a SPELD assessor or psychologist. This report, as well as school evidence and historical data, must indicate the student has a Specific Learning Disability that is likely to be overcome by SACs.Â
As a SPELD assessor with NZQA Levels A, B & C registration, I am qualified to assess for Special Assessment Conditions.
