Recommendation systems 

The goal is to develop novel recommendation systems that will facilitate research collaborations among scientists, enhance use/reuse of datasets, and make it easier for researchers to find relevant publications, datasets, and funding opportunities.    

Electronic Health Records (EHR)

• • Methodology group: developing novel statistical models for EHR data in order to address clinical and public health questions

  • Collaboration group: promoting collaborations between data scientists/statisticians and clinical investigators to use EHR data to gain insights and develop predictive models

  • Cancer/HIV Collaboration group: analyzing Cancer+HIV patients’ data and creating predictive models 

  • Social determinates of health (SDoH) + EHR data

Health IT 

The goal is to utilize the power of the advanced information technology (IT) techniques and tools to integrate a range of approaches to health care to improve health care in a health disparity community. 

GEO Big Data

• • Develop scalable Big Data analytic pipelines to analyze large number of time course gene expression data sets from the GEO data repository

  • Develop web-based collaboration platform to share the large number of analysis results with genetic and biomedical collaborators in order to extract scientific insights and disseminate the large number of findings from the scalable analytic pipelines via publications
