STORE
The Association Store is open on Saturday and Sunday 10.30am to 12 noon. We are fully stocked with all types of compost and other sundries so please call in. A popular new addition are the regular BCC compost deliveries. Please note the store is closed throughout August.
Plot rent concessions. In line with other City Council sites concessionary rents are available on application. Further information is available from committee members at the site store or by emailing ashleydownallotments@btinternet.com.
Plot Availability Ashley Down Allotments Association is committed to maximise the number of active and well cared for allotments. We currently have a waiting list and if you wish to be considered for a plot and added to our waiting list please register your interest using the online registration form here. Please note that accepting a plot within Ashley Down Allotments is a commitment.
You need to be prepared to clear an overgrown plot. Plots usually become available when the previous tenant has not kept the plot in cultivation.
Once a plot is cleared it takes time and commitment to keep the plot cultivated. You will need to make sure that you have time to visit your plot regularly.
Regularly means during most weeks in the growing season.
Plot holders are required to appraise themselves and abide by the conditions of their tenancy agreement outlined here.

Bonfire Etiquette
A reminder that Bristol City Council bans bonfires on all Council Allotment sites from April to October inclusive. This is to tackle problems with complaints about bonfire nuisance, particularly prevalent during good weather.
The Association is expected to enforce this amongst plotholders, including eviction for persistent offenders, so your co-operation in this would be appreciated. The ban does not affect plotholders having small barbeques on site.
Thank you to all allotment holders who have supported the store and taken advantage of the wide range of products available to make your allotment a blooming success. Remember all the profit from the store is reinvested into your allotments.
DOGS ON ALLOTMENTS
We do not wish to discourage you from taking your dog to your plot but they should not be allowed to wander onto other people's plots. Dogs should be kept on a lead, or otherwise confined to the tenant’s own plot. If they do foul the haulingway or any other area, this must be picked up and properly disposed of.
The City Council has made it quite clear that tenants who allow their dogs to run across plots, disturbing seed beds and even fouling plots, will be in breach of their tenancy agreement.
CHILDREN ON THE ALLOTMENT SITE
Children are welcome on the Allotment site. However, the City Council reminds all plotholders that children should not be allowed to wander onto other people's plots. The Council point out that there are many dangers on allotments, and it is therefore in the interests of safety, as well as respecting neighbouring plotholders, that children, or any other visitors, should not go onto other plots without invitation.

Orchard News
Our orchard area has benefited from another winter of pruning and is looking a much more cared for area. The orchard has had one plum, pear and a cherry tree added this winter. Remember that any plotholder can take advantage of the fruit from the orchard, please only take sufficient for your personal needs to ensure there is enough fruit to go around.
