PhD Resources
This section collects some general resources I've developed over the years for my PhD students, that others may find useful
A short note on reviewing manuscripts for journals, with a list of common questions to consider and some best practices.
A blueprint for writing introductions
A short note on theory construction
A short video on conducting research during the PhD program (with accompanying slides here)
A presentation on building a research pipeline (from a 2018 doctoral consortium)
Theory Building
As mentioned on my main teaching page, I teach a PhD seminar on theory building, the full syllabus for which may be found here. As part of that class, I've developed a set of videos talking about various aspects of theory building. These videos reflect my own understanding and experience with building theory in the field of strategic management. They are not meant to be definitive (if there is such a thing), nor do I claim to be an expert on any of these topics. But I'd like to believe they offer useful guidance to young scholars just starting out. In any case, here's the full set:

SMS PhD Chats
For some years now, Samina Karim and I (along with a roster of fantastic guest panelists) have been organizing and recording a series of sessions dealing with typical issues that PhD students face. The full list of these PhD Chats, with accompanying video recordings, may be found on the SMS website here.
