The singer in the videos on this page studies at Yeshiva Temimei Derech in the town of Tsfat where some believe Kabbalah and Jewish mysticism were “first revealed.” In the yeshiva students study the Torah intensively. The organizers of this yeshiva believe they are giving students an opportunity to “explore Judaism and spirituality in creative ways.” For example, students join music groups and form bands, learn from and collaborate with local artists, and are encouraged to hike in the countryside in order to find “spiritual solace.” Profound knowledge of Kabbalah and Hassidic thought is the ultimate goal. The leaders of the yeshiva would like students to apply what they have learned from their studies to improve their own and their community’s lives. The words and music on the following videos are a direct expression of the singer’s Orthodox Jewish identity.
The rabbi accompanying the singer during this outdoor performance was Ariel Gorenstein, a student and expert on classical Jewish philosophy. As an expert in this area , Rabbi Gorenstein “gives judgment” in many areas of Torah. A graduate of Boston University, he furthered his Jewish studies in in Tsfat, and has a Certificate of Rabbinic Ordination.
