Artchipel Orchestra «Officine Mengelberg»
Prosegue la collaborazione tra Musica Jazz e Artchipel Orchestra, formazione fondata e diretta da Ferdinando Faraò la quale, negli ultimi anni, si è saldamente imposta sulla scena del jazz italiano grazie a svariati cd di rilevante successo. lI nuovo lavoro di Artchipel, che segue di pochi mesi quello dedicato alla rilettura di «Tubular Bells», affronta stavolta un repertorio più strettamente jazzistico rileggendo una serie di composizioni di uno dei padri nobili della musica improvvisata europea, l’olandese Misha Mengelberg (1935-2017), che per decenni ha rappresentato, assieme al batterista Han Bennink e alla loro ICP Orchestra, un imprescindibile punto di riferimento per musicisti e ascoltatori. Siamo quindi orgogliosi di presentare un disco destinato a segnare una tappa importante nell’ancor giovane ma già consolidata storia di Artchipel.

The collaboration between Musica Jazz and Artchipel Orchestra, a group founded and directed by Ferdinando Faraò, which in recent years has firmly established itself on the Italian jazz scene thanks to several successful CDs, continues. Artchipel's new work, which follows a few months after the one dedicated to the reinterpretation of ‘Tubular Bells’, this time deals with a more strictly jazz repertoire, reinterpreting a series of compositions by one of the noble fathers of European improvised music, the Dutchman Misha Mengelberg (1935-2017), who for decades, together with drummer Han Bennink and their ICP Orchestra, has represented an essential point of reference for musicians and listeners. We are therefore proud to present an album destined to mark an important milestone in the still young but already established history of Artchipel.
