Denny Nyari Career Stats

Denny Nyari of South Bend, Indiana was one of the all-time winningest late model stock car drivers in Midwestern short track racing history. The legendary northern Indiana speed merchant began his oval track racing career at the South Bend Motor Speedway in 1963 competing in the track's Flying Stock division. Through the years he has participated in late model competition with the Tri-State Racing Assn., American Racing Congress (ARC), American Speed Assn. (ASA), ASA Gran Marque division, Tri-R Racing Series, ARTGO Racing Series, Michigan State Promoters Assn. (MSPA), and others with big event wins coming with the ASA in the Redbud 300 at Anderson, Indiana and the Minnesota State Fair, along with victories in the Michigan State Championship race, Dealer's Choice, Hartford, Michigan's Graduation Race, Hoosier 200, Junkyard 100, Kentucky Asphalt Championships and the Dixie Classic. All told Denny drove to 440 feature event wins across his 35 year racing career. During a span of 9 racing seasons from 1976 through 1984 the veteran racer scored 287 main event wins averaging 33 a season with a best of 41 feature checkereds collected out of 46 starts for an amazing 90% win average in 1982. He was recognized as America's winningest asphalt stock car driver in 1982 with his 41 win total and again in 1984 with 38 victories. Denny has collected season championship hardware in multiple seasons at the South Bend, Plymouth and New Paris Speedways in Indiana, and the Mottville and Kalamazoo Speedways in Michigan. During his driving career Denny did extensive research and development work for both Hoosier Tire of Lakeville, Indiana and Howe Racing Enterprises in Beaverton, Michigan. Denny Nyari passed away in October of 2015 at the age of 72 but will be long remembered as one of America's all-time great short track late model racers.
